GitLab merge-request review, planned for VeriFlow

GitLab is not available or activated yet. We’re exploring a planned integration for merge-request review automation, inline notes, suggestion blocks, and pipeline-aware status. The details below describe the proposed shape only.

Planned integration

A proposed GitLab review flow

If shipped, the GitLab connection would be designed around merge-request activity and the same clear review loop available on GitHub. No GitLab installation or credential request is available from this page.

Inline merge-request notes

The planned experience could anchor findings to a path and line in the merge-request diff, with context and a recommended fix.

GitLab-native suggestions

Suggestion blocks are part of the proposed design; whether and how they ship will be confirmed before launch.

Security-pass findings

The planned flow would consider the same security review themes as the live product, including auth gaps, secrets, injection, and dependency risk.

Pipeline-aware status

A future implementation could aggregate review findings into a per-commit pipeline status, subject to the final integration design.

Proposed permissions

A proposed minimum scope shape

These are planning notes, not a live permission request. Final scopes and webhook behavior will be confirmed before GitLab becomes available.

api/read_repository
planned read — The proposed integration would read the project tree at the merge-request head so reviews stay focused on the changed surface.
api/merge_requests
planned read & write — The proposed scope would cover merge-request diffs, review notes, discussion threads, and resolution workflows.
read_user
planned read-only — This is the proposed identity scope for associating a future connection with the GitLab user who requests it.
api/commits
planned read — The planned review loop could use commit metadata and pipeline status to mirror the live GitHub experience.
api/notes
planned read & write — The proposed integration could post inline notes and read replies without requesting a catch-all administrator scope.

The planned event model would consider Push Hook, Merge Request Hook, and Note Hook events. No GitLab webhook is registered by VeriFlow today.

Planned review coverage

Designed to carry the same security context

A future GitLab review would be intended to surface auth, secrets, injection, unsafe deserialization, and dependency findings with the same severity vocabulary used in the live product. See the current approach on /security.
